Evanta Barchetta makes its debut at Goodwood Revival

Evanta has revealed a new car at Revival. In one of the stands in the Over The Road show is the first chance to see the new Barchetta, a car that blends styling themes from classic British and Italian sports cars.

It might nod to classic car styling on the outside, but under the skin, it’s all new: a 6.2-litre Chevrolet V8 drives through a choice of 5- or 6-speed gearboxes. Auto is an option, too. Power options range from the standard 450bhp to a supercharged 780bhp. Either way, it’s plenty given the sub 1000kg target weight. The tubular spaceframe chassis is clothed in composite bodywork. Aluminium is an option at extra cost.

Prices start from £125,000, which Evanta MD Ant Anstead describes as ‘not expensive’ when compared to the values of classic cars. The car on show is the first prototype. Expect some development – some details, like the headrests, are to be changed for production-spec cars.

Much has been said of the Ant-Kahn collaboration between Ant Anstead and Afzal Kahn.  The two businesses will be structured distinctly: Evanta will continue in the mould that Anstead has established over the last few years, with its Aston Martin DBR1 replica and now the Barchetta, while Ant-Kahn will offer coach-built cars. An Evanta GT car is due for launch at next year’s Geneva show.
